Hi, We are the Dream Squad!
The Dream Squad is a Girl Scout Robotics team, formed by the WWP service unit of GSCSNJ, made up of six girl scouts from West Windsor Plainsboro and South Brunswick NJ. This team was created in 2021 with a combination of scouts who had previously competed in FIRST Lego league (FLL) challenge and rookies. Everyone joining the team was interested in learning about robotics, programming and enjoying the journey. Some of us in the team have been competing in the Lego league competitions since 3rd grade. We knew each other from school and Girl Scout troops, some since kindergarten. This is their second year competing as a team for Dream Squad, first year with in-person competition.
Dream Squad is made up of confident, hard-working, ambitious, fun loving young women who want to dream BIG and achieve even BIGGER. We do not shy away from putting in long hours and spending time researching/developing/programming together. We enjoy each other’s company and appreciate each person’s contribution to the team, cheering, pushing, and nudging each other on. And we live and breathe the GIRL SCOUTS values.
GSCSNJ stands for Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey. They are our guide and partner to all things Girl Scouts. They believe in the power of girls, connecting more than 21,000 girls and nearly 12,000 volunteers experiencing new adventures every single day. Teamwork, friendship, and community unite us and we shine so much brighter when we’re together. The girls and volunteers change our communities and the world through small acts of kindness and through BIG ideas that make a lasting impact.
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is for children in Grades 4-8. Friendly competition is at the heart of the Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-16* engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering – building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of Challenge, teams also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem.
